King’s Lynn Town finished their away pre-season schedule with a win as they prepare for visits from two league teams ahead of the big kick-off.

The Linnets were 2-0 winners at Leiston on Saturday, thanks to goals from strikers Jonny Margetts and Gold Omotayo.

Next up is a visit from Northampton Town on Tuesday night (7.45pm) before the pre-season finale against a Luton Town XI at The Walks on Saturday - a week before they start their National League North campaign at home to Warrington.

“It felt like a pre-season game, to be fair,” admitted Lynn boss Adam Lakeland. “I don't think we were particularly great all game, probably with the exception of the start - I felt we started quite well, a good tempo and moved the ball quite well, created a couple of opportunities.

“I just felt we lost our way a little bit, our shape wasn't quite right, the press wasn't quite right, kept turning the ball over. It’s one that won't be remembered, I don't think, but I think you do sometimes get to a point in pre-season where games can be a little bit like that because lads are at that stage now where they're probably looking towards the first game of the season.

“We’ve got two really good friendlies to look forward to next week, which will be completely different challenges than what we've probably had in the ones we’ve played so far.”

In other friendlies, Lowestoft Town beat visiting Gorleston 2-0, while Wroxham lost 3-0 at home to Cheshunt.
