Kellen Fisher is open-minded about his position as the experiment to find his best role at Norwich City continues.

The youngster has played as a right back, left back and central midfield so far in pre-season as Johannes Hoff Thorup attempts to unlock his abilities after being impressed by his performances since returning to training.

Fisher is playing his way into contention ahead of next month's Championship kick-off against Oxford United as Thorup begins to trim his squad before a trip to Austria next week.

Despite the constant positional changes so far, Fisher is enjoying the process of discovering his role in Thorup's City plans.

"I think that's still of a grey area," he said when asked about his position. "As you saw at Northampton and against Club Brugge, I played in midfield. Today, I played left-back. It's still a bit of a grey area as to where the boss wants me to play, but I don't really care.

"As long as I'm playing, that's when I am at my happiest. I think it's only a positive because the boss shows a lot of trust in you to try out these positions. It only works in your favour.

"Last year, I didn't play as much as I liked, but I have to think about where I came from. I was a 21s player. My mum and dad always say 'take your time and you'll get there'.

"Hopefully, this year, I can get more minutes and implement myself in the starting lineup."

The Canaries were beaten by Bundesliga Two side Magdeburg on Friday night, with Fisher deployed as an attacking left back.

But it was his cameo as a midfielder in two of the opening four friendlies that caught supporters off guard, but it's been a throwback for the 20-year-old.

"[I played there] a bit before Bromley at Sunday league," Fisher said. "I was actually a centre midfielder before and when the boss said he was going to try me out there, I was a bit surprised myself.

"I felt like I dealt with it okay. I've had a dabble in that position before. It's a bit of an experiment as to where I'm best. In the last game, I was the third centre back in build up and today I was a lot higher.

"It's a bit of a grey area where my best position is, but we'll see how it goes."
