Two promotions aren’t enough for Kenny McLean as he aims for play-off success with Norwich City.

The 32-year-old played a key role twice as the Canaries won Championship titles in 2019 and 2021, securing his legacy at Carrow Road with a player of the season award this term.

He’s not done there, however, with his focus solely on adding one more great memory to his long list of them in six years as a Norwich player.

David Wagner’s side have all-but qualified for the final stage of the campaign, with an eight-goal swing needed to deny them on Saturday, and McLean is desperate to make the most.

“The success that I've had here, I just want to keep replicating it,” he said. “I can only do that by playing like it is my first and last game for the football club, and I always do that.

“That [pride in the shirt] will never go really.

“There's a long way to go this season, we've got more to give. We've got a lot of young, hungry lads in there who want some of the success that the older lads have had.

“We all want the same goal, the fans are pulling in that direction as well. They're desperate for more success for the club, and hopefully we can bring it.”

Few predicted that City would be in the position they are going into the final day of the regular season, with November’s defeat to Blackburn seeing them drop to 17th in the table.

They haven’t lost at home since then, however, and have been the form team in the second division for months on end.

McLean says he’s proud of what he and his team-mates have achieved so far, but is urging them to make the most as the campaign comes to a close.

“You don't see it happening too often, the way we've turned it around from where we came from,” he continued, speaking to official club channels.

“I think if you told anybody that we'd be sitting here with a real chance to deliver something special, they wouldn't have believed it.

“Thankfully we're able to turn things around, and the form we've found the back end of the season since the turn of the year has been pretty outstanding.

“We're just getting stronger, and the position we've found ourselves in is really good. There's still a lot of hard work to do and a long way to go, but from where we were to now, everybody should be pretty proud of what they've done.”
