Norwich City Women interim boss Scott Emmerson said he took great pleasure in watching five of his players find the scoresheet as the Canaries thumped Chesham United 6-1 on Sunday.

City completed a comfortable league double over their Buckinghamshire opponents by scoring three goals in each half, and in truth, were so dominant that they could and perhaps should have scored more.

Natasha Snelling took her tally for the season to 22 with a brace, while Hope Strauss, Ellie Smith, Lauren Hailes and Holly Kennard also netted prior to Becky Fraser's late consolation effort for the hosts.

Scoring as many as six goals in a single game is something City have managed to do on three separate occasions in the league this term, and Emmerson was thrilled to see so many players chipping in.

He explained: "It's the plan to get different people on the scoresheet to show that we don't need to just rely on one person.

"We can get goals from all over, set-plays, we can mix and match it around with quick snappy play, in and around the box and the midfielders then chip in as well.

"We've got a lot of depth and that's how it needs to be because otherwise you become too predictable and teams then suss you out.

"It's going to give a lot of teams some planning to work out what to then do with the group."

Sunday's match had been due to take place on a grass pitch at The Meadow, Chesham's home ground, but heavy overnight rain forced a late change of venue to a nearby school facility.

This meant playing on an artificial surface much-like the pitch City's players are used to at The Nest, though Emmerson still wished to praise his players for how well they adjusted.

Eastern Daily Press: Charlotte Pernet replaced Skipper Anna Larkins in the 25th minute.

"(It was) a difficult situation to come in, travel and then the change of pitch and everything," he said.

"The width of it (the pitch) and length of it is quite short, so we had to be on our A-game with short, sharp, snappy passes, and exploiting space.

"Looking at some of the pictures that we've been shown from their pitch today, it was very deeply underwater and a bit horrific. So we were glad to then play on this, very smooth, and it helps us out more than probably them.

"I think it's actually helped us having a shorter warm-up today, so we're being crisp and sharp. Messages have been very clear and we've worked to a good standard.

Eastern Daily Press: Lauren Hailes found the net for Norwich's fourth of the afternoon

"We're really happy with everything we've achieved today, it's just a shame we couldn't get across the line with a clean sheet. That's the one downside."

Promotion is no longer a possibility for City this season, but they can finish the campaign with an undefeated league record if they win or draw at Ashford Town next weekend, something Eloise Morran says they are determined to do.

She stated: "It would be absolutely amazing and I think we'd all be buzzing if we came away from the season unbeaten.

"We've still got to win, or draw, but hopefully a win! We've still got next week to do and our full attention's there.

"They (Ashford) are a good opposition, a real tough one, but I think we know our qualities and we know if we play to them, we'll do well. But we've got a lot of respect for them."

Young midfielder Morran has started games consistently for City in her first full season in senior women's football and has attracted the attention of Scotland's youth selectors since the New Year, earning two international call-ups.

"It's an absolute honour playing with some great quality players, as we have here as well," the 17-year-old said.

"I hope to bring those qualities that I learn from there back here. Learning from different experiences and then coming back here and being able to adapt a little bit better is the main thing.

"I've absolutely loved going away with them, it's been brilliant."
