A motorist has appeared in court accused of running over a pedestrian, twice.
David Pain, 57, is said to have deliberately driven his Vauxhall Astra at another man on Bowthorpe Road in Norwich.
He has pleaded not guilty to dangerous driving at Norwich Magistrates’ Court.
Hollie Davies-Regan, prosecuting, said it was claimed he had driven at the man, knocking him to the ground and leaving him with leg injuries, during an incident on April 9.
She added that eye witnesses also described the car having previously hit the man, causing him to grab the wing mirror in a desperate effort to avoid being hurt.
Pain, of Motum Road in Norwich, also faces charges of assault and drug driving.
During a police interview he claimed he had been the victim of an assault but there was no evidence to support this, the court heard.
He elected for his trial to take place at Norwich Crown Court with a preliminary hearing to take place on December 3.
He said: “I haven’t seen the evidence against me. I know what I’m accused of but I’ve seen no substance.”
