A British Army veteran and gold medal-winning sprinter has been inspiring young athletes at a Norfolk school.
Team UK participant Richard Potter, who clinched gold at last year's Invictus Games in Germany, visited Heacham Junior School, near Hunstanton.
Mr Potter, a former Army captain from Old Catton, Norwich, who had his leg amputated after an injury, led pupils from Years 3 to 6 through a series of fitness circuits.
These included exercises such as spotty dogs, plank shoulder taps, squat jumps, and star jumps.
He then held a school assembly where he shared his experiences as an athlete and answered questions from his young audience.
Heacham Junior PE lead James Agate, who arranged the visit with school secretary Denise Bridge, said: “The visit allowed the opportunity for the children to see sport from another view, and the children to feel included.
“It fitted with our school ethos of diversity and inclusivity.
“It’s incredibly important to help children understand sport from another perspective.”
Mr Potter was one of 59 veterans and serving personnel representing Team UK in the 2023 Invictus Games at Dusseldorf.
