Villagers could lose a post office after plans were submitted to change it into a home.
The owners of the Coltishall store in Wroxham Road closed the business in 2021 after it became unprofitable.
Steve and Elizabeth Haines had run the shop for 18 years but found it difficult to compete with discount supermarkets and they have since sold the property.
Now a developer hopes to expand the living accommodation and change the use of the property to a residential home.
According to documents submitted to the Broads Authority, the post office had been marketed for sale for over a year but no interested buyers came forward.
They believe this justifies the loss of the shop as it proves it is no longer viable, adding that there are other shops in the village.
A decision will be made by the BA in future months.
Post offices are disappearing from Norfolk towns and villages.
Nationally, more than 200 are closing a year - about two a week.
