A sex offender confronted by paedophile hunters has admitted attempting to communicate with a teenage girl online. 

Sean Denniston, 34, believed he was chatting to a 14-year-old but was in fact a decoy account and he was later confronted at his home by members of an online group.

Appearing before Norwich Crown Court via video link from prison he pleaded guilty to sexual communication with a child between June 13 and July 16.

Denniston, from Walcott, also admitted breaching a sexual harm prevention order (SHPO) imposed after he was convicted of previous offences in 2018.

The court heard he was found to have intentionally deleted files from his online browser history in breach of requirements of the order. 

Prosecutors said no evidence would be offered on a third charge of an attempted SHPO breach involving unsupervised contact with a child, which he had denied.

Judge Anthony Bate said he had “a recent history of similar offending”.

He ordered a pre-sentence report ahead of his sentencing on September 20.

He was told he would remain on remand in prison.
