A man left his ex-partner's new boyfriend with a fractured jaw and eye socket after he hit him outside his flat, a court has heard.

Nathan Graver, 34, had seen his former partner walking past his Great Yarmouth flat before coming out to attack him.

Norwich Crown Court heard Graver approached the victim before he punched him "in the face".

Samantha Lowther, prosecuting, said the victim suffered a fractured jaw and fractured orbital - bones around his eye socket - in the incident on September 21 last year.

Mrs Lowther said the victim suffered a "significant injury" given that two fractures were sustained.

Graver, of Maxislaney Court, Regent Road, Yarmouth, appeared at court on Wednesday (August 7) when he pleaded guilty to inflicting grievous bodily harm.

He also admitted separate offences of possession of cannabis and having an article with a blade or point which both occurred on October 14 last year.

Mrs Lowther said there was a suggestion a knuckle duster was used in the attack and the prosecution needed time to look at whether one was used or not as the guilty plea had not been entered on that basis.

Judge Andrew Shaw adjourned the case for a mention on August 22 to give the prosecution time to complete their enquiries, adding "having a knuckle duster would make a significant difference" to sentence.

John Morgans represented Graver.
