The region's ambulance trust has appointed a new chief executive from a pool of more than 35 applicants.

Neill Moloney has been named new CEO of the East of England Ambulance Service Trust, following the departure earlier this year of Tom Abell.

Mr Moloney most recently worked as managing director and deputy chief executive of the East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation Trust - the organisation which runs Ipswich and Colchester hospitals.

Before his role at ESNEFT, he also worked as a director for NHS England, leading urgent and emergency care for the organisation.

Mr Moloney said: "I am delighted to be offered the opportunity.

"I am passionate about urgent and emergency care and will be committed to improving the services we deliver to communities while supporting our people with ongoing cultural improvements.

"I recognise this role is a huge privilege."

Mrunal Sisodia, chairman of EEAST, said: "I am really looking forward to welcoming Neill to Team EEAST.

"I know that his skills and wealth of experience will be hugely beneficial in supporting us with our next steps."
