Representatives from a 200-year-old charity that has saved countless lives at sea took part in a unique photo opportunity to mark the occasion.

People from Sheringham’s RNLI participated in the special shoot to create a photographic record of those involved.

Organised by the charity, which was founded in 1824, it asked its volunteers and staff from around the UK and Ireland to take a photo of themselves.

Sheringham’s RNLI decided to create an aerial shot taken by crewmember and professional photographer Chris Taylor

The photo includes the lifeboat crew, shop volunteers, and long-term supporters the Sheringham Shantymen.

While in Hunstanton, there was another historic photo call for the RNLI.

Like the other 230 RNLI stations around the coast, it was set to take the special picture at exactly 6.24pm, on August 1, in celebration of the 200th anniversary and the founding of a lifeboat service at Hunstanton.

Yellow wellies were carefully arranged to spell out the number 200, along with a lifeboat and hovercraft as a backdrop.

Although not obvious from the photo, minutes beforehand the crew had a shout out but were stood down and made the picture with just minutes to spare.

Anjie Rook, the RNLI’s associate director who is overseeing its 200th anniversary programme, said: “We have encouraged anyone who has some form of involvement with the RNLI to participate in this special One Moment for One Crew photographic event.

"This is to capture a record of everyone who, at this moment in time, is playing some part in the RNLI’s lifesaving work, continuing its legacy and securing its future.

"One Moment for One Crew is very much about celebrating the people of today’s RNLI and, we hope, inspiring those future generations who will take the RNLI into its third century of lifesaving."
