A vulnerable woman in care died from an allergic reaction to peanut butter that was until then undiagnosed, a court has heard.
Lorraine Madgett, 52, of Salcasa Care Home in Buxton, near Aylsham, died at the Norfolk and Norwich Hospital (N&N) on January 25.
The inquest into her death held by Yyvonne Blake, area coroner for Norfolk, heard that on January 19, the patient had woken up after 5am.
Her carer, Andrezej Uramowski then showered her before making strawberry jam on toast for breakfast.
She finished her food and then Mr Uramowski gave her a coffee.

The carer then left to go to the kitchen to make his own breakfast, having worked the night shift.
Mr Uramowski was followed by Ms Madgett who asked if she could have what he was having.
As the woman ate her second slice of toast the carer noticed she was choking and began giving her back slaps and abdominal thrusts.

She was admitted to the hospital’s intensive treatment unit but died six days later as her condition worsened.
Her aunt, Maureen George, identified the body of her niece at the hospital.
The medical cause of death was given as a “hypoxic brain injury due to, or as a result of, cardiorespiratory arrest contributed to choking on food and a nut allergy".
The coroner gave a conclusion of misadventure after establishing that there was no evidence in Ms Madgett's medical records that she had a known nut allergy.

She added that Ms Madgett ate toast "regularly with the crusts cut off", and while she did have other allergies, it was not known that she suffered from a nut allergy.
Coroner Yyvonne Blake offered her condolences to Ms Madgett's friends and family.
Miss Madgett was born on May 29, 1971, in Enfield, London.
