A Norfolk-based clothing company is hosting a new event which it says will be the first-ever "HYROX-style" fitness race to be held in Norfolk.

Blakely Clothing, an international lifestyle fashion brand established and based in Norfolk, is hosting its first APEX Games at the Norfolk Showground on September 7.

The event is set to bring together fitness enthusiasts from gyms across the region to compete in a new team fitness race.

Blakely - Norwich City's new shirt sponsor for the 2024/25 season - says the event will be similar to popular HYROX fitness races which take place across the world and involve repeated running and functional workout stations.

The APEX Games will feature three stations: strength, a chance to showcase heavy-lifting skills; endurance, a test of physical stamina; and summit, where functional fitness will be pushed to the limit.

Participants, organised into teams of four from their gyms, will go head-to-head, pushing their limits and displaying their abilities.

“We are thrilled to launch Blakely APEX Games this September, the first-ever HYROX-style event to be hosted in Norfolk”, Victoria Norman, Blakely's events manager, said.

“This event is about more than just competition: it’s about building a community, celebrating fitness, and creating memorable experiences.

"Whether you’re competing, cheering from the sidelines, or enjoying the various activities, there’s something for everyone.”

Alongside the main competition, the event will include yoga sessions as well as multiple three-kilometre 'shakeout runs', in preparation for those participating in Run Norwich the following day (September 8).

These additional sessions are free of charge, open to all, and will be hosted multiple times throughout the day.

Spectator tickets are also available and there will be discounts of up to 80pc at the Blakely Clothing sample sale.
