Seven daredevil women took to the skies over Beccles to raise vital funds for charity.

Founded in 2018, Feathers Futures provides a safe space for women to come together and support one another.

The group offers courses and social groups that range from cookery and ‘crafternoons,’ to support through domestic abuse recovery courses and individual counselling sessions.

Angela, one of the skydivers who took part at Beccles Airfield, said: “I have always wanted to do a skydive, so completing it and raising funds for such a great local charity made it even more special.

“I have seen first-hand the difference Feathers Futures makes to the lives of local women. The skydive really was a special occasion; we all jumped together, conquered fears, and knew the money we raised would make such a huge difference.”

Sandra, Feathers House manager, expressed her gratefulness: “Thank you to everyone who made the leap for Feathers Futures, donated, and came to watch.

"There were more than 100 friends, family, Feathers Futures staff, volunteers and women who came to support the jump which is incredible.

“Your generosity and support will positively impact women’s lives across Great Yarmouth. We couldn’t do it without passionate supporters like you.”

More than £3,500 has been raised so far with donations still coming in.

This follows receiving a nearly £400k donation in March this year from the National Lottery Community Fund.

The event proved to be so popular that Feathers Futures has set up the same event for next year on May 11, 2025, with volunteers already signing up.

With volunteers and staff available from Monday to Friday, Feathers House, which is located off Hall Quay in Great Yarmouth, is open and available for any women who live in the local area.
