A teenage driver has appeared in court charged with causing a three-vehicle crash which left a motorcyclist facing life-changing leg injuries.

Lucian McNamara, 19, was at the wheel of a Ford Fiesta when it turned into the path and hit a Hyundai Santa Fe towing a trailer, causing it to crash into a Honda CBR motorbike that had been waiting to turn.

Norwich Magistrates’ Court was told the motorcyclist, a man in his 50s, was taken to Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge by air ambulance with suspected life-changing injuries to his leg.

He subsequently required surgery having sustained dislocated bones.

He elected for his case to be heard at Norwich Crown Court with a preliminary hearing scheduled for August 22.
