An inquest into the death of an 18-year-old woman who died in a crash has been permanently suspended after the vehicle's driver was jailed.

Mariana Faustino-Valente died in September, 2022 when a car driven by 21-year-old Teegan Brabant collided with a tree on the B1110 in North Elmham.

Brabant, of Litcham Road in Mileham, was jailed in May, having admitted to causing her death by dangerous driving.

Now, an inquest into the former Dereham Neatherd High School pupil has been permanently suspended by the county's senior coroner.

During a short hearing, Jacqueline Lake said: "This case has been dealt with at Norwich Crown Court and evidence was heard that answered the question of who died, how, when and where.

"There has been no request for an inquest subsequently and therefore I permanently suspend this inquest."

Following the court case, family friends of Miss Valente described her as "an absolute treasure" and a "ray of sunshine".

Brabant was sentenced to six years imprisonment following the crash, which happened in the early hours of Saturday, September 17, 2022.
