The owner of a popular seaside café has opened a new coffee shop nearby.

Robbie Kirtley, owner of the Rocket House Café on Cromer seafront, has now launched his second venue - the Rocket House Coffee Shop - in the centre of town.

The Rocket House Coffee Shop, on Church Street, offers coffee and cake, a selection of hot and cold wraps, and specials including the town's famous crab sandwiches.

"It's an addition to the Rocket House Café, a new coffee shop in the centre of town," Mr Kirtley said.

"I want to bring the produce and quality of the café at the Rocket House to the high street. It's another independent on the high street rather than a chain.

"I don't want Cromer to become like every other town in the country, which are full of chains. Towns like ours thrive on independence - that's how they stay alive.

"That's how it's always been. It's really important that we keep our independence alive and don't get taken over by chains."

The coffee shop, open Monday to Saturday from 10am to 4pm, serves breakfast baps, various wraps - including prawn, peri peri chicken and falafel - and an ever-changing special board.

Cakes and tray bakes are also on offer, such as classic Victoria sponge, coffee and walnut and lemon drizzle.

Mr Kirkley, who has owned the Rocket House Café since 2006, also has future plans to serve ice cream and frozen yoghurt from the coffee shop's takeaway window.

"I'm really looking forward to welcoming customers to the coffee shop," he added.
