Neighbours have expressed their shock after a man living in their area of Norwich was charged with murder following an assault at a pub.
Tyrone Busch appeared at Norwich Magistrates' Court on Friday in connection with the death of Michael O'Dwyer, who was also known as Michael Spooner.
Mr O'Dwyer died a day after he was assaulted outside the Red Lion pub, in Dereham.
In court, Busch gave an address on Hall Road, in Norwich, and people living nearby spoke of their shock at the news.
Staff at the nearby Best One convenience store expressed surprise.
"It is really shocking news. It is not what you expect to hear," one said.
Charlotte Cole, general manager of the Freemasons Arms, said it was shocking to hear.
Mr O'Dwyer was injured in an incident outside the Red Lion last Saturday evening.
He went back to his home in Dereham but an ambulance was called for him at around 5am on Sunday and he was taken to the Norfolk and Norwich Hospital, where he died that evening.
Police were not made aware of his death until Tuesday when they launched an investigation which lead back to the Dereham incident.
A post-mortem examination said the provisional cause of Mr O'Dwyer's death was a traumatic head injury.
