A church school where pupils make a "flying start" has been rated as outstanding across the board by Ofsted.

Whitefriars Church of England Primary Academy in King's Lynn was given the perfect end to the school year after Ofsted gave it the highest available rating in all areas.

The school, which is part of the Diocese of Norwich Education and Academies Trust, was visited by inspectors in May - seven years after its last full assessment.

Previously rated as good, inspectors have now boosted its rating to outstanding - with the report published just in time for the end of the summer term.

In a glowing report, inspectors wrote: "The pupils and their families are at the heart of this highly inclusive, well-led school.

"Pupils are proud of their school - they love learning and, consequently, make exceptional progress."

The report adds that the school's youngest pupils make a "flying start" to their education and "understand the school's high expectations and routines straight away".

Mat Tuckwood, headteacher at Whitefriars, said: "I am delighted with the wonderful outcome of our inspection.

"The report reflects the truly outstanding work taking place at our inclusive school and celebrates the dedication and hard work of both the staff team and the whole school community."

The report adds: "Pupils' behaviour is exemplary - staff set high expectations from the start.

"Pupils live up to these without exception and consequently, learning proceeds without disruption."
