A visitor attraction has been granted permission to stay on Great Yarmouth's Golden Mile, despite complaints from officials it is "harming the heritage" of the resort.
Great Yarmouth's Slingshot ride, which has become a summer mainstay of the town's beachfront since 2017, is allowed to stay in situ until 2026 following the decision.
The 45m high structure, in South Beach Gardens, returned in March this year and is already entertaining thrill seekers, catapulting them high into the seaside air.
The future of the ride had faced uncertainty after a conservation officer at Great Yarmouth Borough Council objected to it, citing the "harm caused to the significance of the surrounding heritage assets".
But at a development management committee meeting, members gave the green light for it to remain for the next two years.

Councillor Gary Boyd, who represents Caister ward, praised the decision.
He said: "Anything that brings people to the town and seafront and improves our tourism offer is a positive.
"It is important we have businesses like this along Marine Parade that entice people to visit."
The Slingshot ride is located next to the viewing wheel, with both attractions giving people the chance to get a different perspective of the town - albeit at very different paces.
