An inquest into the death of motorcyclist who died following a crash in Scotland has been opened by a Norfolk coroner.
Andrew MacPherson, from Elm near Wisbech, was riding on his motorcycle on the A9 in Calvine, on the edge of the Cairngorms, on June 23.
At around 1.30pm, officers were called to reports of a three-vehicle crash around three miles north of the B847 Calvine Road junction.
The crash involved a white Hyundai Ioniq car and two Harley-Davidsons, one maroon and one blue.
Mr MacPherson, 63, who was riding one of the bikes, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The car's passengers were taken to Ninewells Hospital, and the road remained closed for around seven hours.
A 50-year-old woman has since been arrested and charged in connection with the incident. She was due to appear at Dundee Sheriff Court last month.
An inquest into Mr MacPherson’s death was opened at Norfolk Coroner’s Court on July 11.
The court, based in Norwich at County Hall, heard that his body had been identified by a funeral director by passport comparison.
His stepson confirmed to a coroner’s officer that his stepfather, who lived at Limes Avenue, was a retired train driver.
Area coroner Yvonne Blake said: “This is a road traffic collision matter in Scotland, and there are criminal proceedings in train.”
She confirmed that the medical cause of death was multiple injuries due to a blunt form trauma because of a vehicular collision.
A further pre-inquest review will take place at the court next year.
Sergeant Willie Strachan, from Police Scotland, said: “Our thoughts very much remain with the family and friends of Mr MacPherson at this difficult time.”
