The EDP Business Awards 2024 are open for entries and the Employer of the Year award will showcase organisations that have created a people-centric culture and ethos.

The award was created in recognition of the evolution of employee engagement and its impact on the workplace. The judges will be looking for Norfolk businesses that show evidence in the three areas of employee recognition, innovation, and progressive people strategies.

Entrants should also be able to show a clearly defined set of company values and goals, alongside a strong environmental and sustainability strategy.

A positive working culture that encourages employee engagement, rewards and recognises their hard work and prioritises their wellbeing will help entrants stand out.

As will the implementation of training and development opportunities that aim to help staff achieve their full potential.

The winner will be able to present themselves as a great place to work – which is critical in today’s competitive recruitment market.

The title of Employer of the Year can position a business as a progressive organisation that puts its people first, setting it apart in the eyes of employees, investors and customers.

The winner of last year’s Employer of the Year award was Mobilityways, a tech-led social enterprise in Norwich.

The 2023 judges said the leadership team at Mobilityways “led from the front in being a human-centric business”, adding that they “raised the bar so high here in Norfolk with how they have embedded a fantastic positive culture that you can feel when you are in their business”.

When interviewed at the 2023 awards ceremony, head of operation Kate Wood said that the award was “testimony to our fantastic team and all their talent and hard work”.

She added: “We are determined to retain and build upon this purpose-driven culture which invests in our team like the company depends on it – because it really does.”
