A new Co-op store is set to open in Thetford this winter.

The East of England Co-op has confirmed it will bring its first food store to the new Kingsfleet development in Clifton Drive.

The 3,000 square-foot shop will sell everyday essentials and plenty of hot and cold food-to-go options including an in-store bakery.

New jobs will be brought to the town, with customer service assistant and team manager job adverts being planned for later this year.

The announcement of the new store follows the launch of a new Co-op Funeral Services branch in Bury Road in May.

Doug Field OBE, chief executive for the East of England Co-op, said: “We’re very excited to be opening our first food store in Thetford, cementing our presence in the town following the recent opening of a Funeral Services branch.

“New store openings are always great news for our colleagues and members.

"We’re looking forward to bringing our quality products and exceptional customer service to Thetford, as well as extending our Community Cares Fund, our support for local Foodbanks and community outreach programmes which are so important to us.”

Customer service assistants and team managers will be recruited to work at the store.
