Floods at The Huntsman in Strumpshaw due to burst water main

Floodwater can be seen surrounding The Huntsman Pub in Strumpshaw which has been closed for several years due to repeated flooding. 

The pub was renamed Love Every Drop Inn in 2021 after the owner painted the Anglia Water slogan across the building.

Tastebuds Wines, a business opposite the pub, was lucky to escape any damage.

Steve Hearnden, owner of Tastebuds Wines, said: "The road has been closed while Anglian Water vans have been tackling the floods all day.

“Anglian Water has turned the water off to repair the pipe but will now need to repair the road.

"It's been a big issue in the area for several years.”

In 2016, the owners of The Huntsman said that “everything they worked for is gone” after sewage from flooding entered the kitchen and an estimated three inches of water covered the carpet in the main room at the front of the building. 

A spokesman for Anglian Water said: "Our teams are currently on-site removing the water and repairing the burst water main in Strumpshaw, a reinstatement will be completed in the next few days. 

"We'd like to sincerely apologise to those customers who have been affected and our team will continue to work closely with them until we can get things back to normal.”
