A Norfolk councillor said she is "disgusted" at the overgrown state of a cemetery where her great-grandmother is buried.
Kerry Robinson-Payne, a Labour councillor for Nelson Ward, shared her frustrations at the condition of Gorleston Old Cemetery at a recent Great Yarmouth Borough Council scrutiny committee meeting.
It comes amid widespread criticism from councillors at the condition of play parks, streets and verges across the borough.
She said: "I had family visiting from London at the time to see my great grandmother's grave.
"I was absolutely disgusted by the state of the cemetery. Elderly people must find it difficult if they want to see a loved one's grave due to all the overgrown plants.
"I felt embarrassed when my family asked why it was like that. If you cannot see your loved ones then it would be extremely upsetting."
Great Yarmouth Services, the council-owned company responsible for maintaining open spaces, has blamed weather conditions and staff shortages for problems keeping up with the demand of grass-cutting and maintenance this year.
