A west Suffolk restaurant will be donating all of its sales to help those affected by flooding in Bangladesh. 

The South Asian country has been hit by extensive flooding in recent weeks, leaving nearly two million people stranded in low-lying areas. 

Shaz Begg, who runs Gandhi in Mildenhall High Street, has family living in Sylhet which he says is suffering due to the floods. 

"My family is living in one of the worst affected areas," said Mr Begg. 

"They have sent videos of villagers wading through chest-deep water and we couldn't just sit still and watch people suffer."

"All we are asking is for people to order a takeaway from Gandhi instead of ordering a pizza," said Mr Begg, who also co-owns TopG Wings. 

"There is a serious concern for those trapped by floodwaters who now face food shortages and a lack of clean water."

Gandhi will be open from 4.30pm until 10.30pm for both dine-in and takeaway.
