Norfolk and Suffolk Police did not contribute to the death of a woman who was killed during a car chase in Earsham, the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) has ruled.

On August 13, officers were chasing a stolen Land Rover through a farm field off the A143 when it was involved in a crash with a Nissan Juke.

Aisatou Mballow-Baldeh, 28, from Lowestoft, who was driving the Nissan, was killed.

Footage of the incident was captured by a police helicopter flying above.

Thomaz Urbaniak and Marcin Jablonsk, the father and son inside the Land Rover, have since been jailed for a total of 14 years.

The IOPC launched an investigation and has now ruled the actions of all involved officers were "appropriate and in line with policy and guidance".

Mel Palmer, the watchdog's regional director, said: “Our thoughts remain with the family and friends of Aisatou Mballow-Baldeh and all those affected by this tragic incident.

“Our investigation was independent of the police and aimed to understand events leading up to the collision.

"We found the officers acted appropriately during and after the collision which followed a pursuit.”
