The trial of a 31-year-old Norfolk man accused of murder due to start next week has had to be put back by two months.
Martin Montgomery has denied murder following an attack on Nigel Mazs, a man in his 50s, who was found with serious injuries, in Regent Road, Great Yarmouth.
It followed an assault believed to have taken place inside a communal area in a block of flats at Malakoff Close shortly before 12.10pm on December 22 last year.
Mr Mazs was taken to hospital after the incident but died as a result of his injuries on January 4 this year.
Montgomery, of Russell Road, Yarmouth, was due to go on trial on July 1 having pleaded not guilty to murder.
But Montgomery, who has admitted manslaughter, appeared at Norwich Crown Court on Monday when the trial date was put back by two months to September 2 by Judge Alice Robinson.
John Morgans, representing Montgomery, said the defence were still awaiting a report from their own pathologist and would not be ready to start a trial next week.
Montgomery had initially been charged with inflicting grievous bodily harm (GBH) with intent following the attack but was later charged with murder after Mr Mazs died.
The trial is expected to last two weeks.
