A small and welcoming infant school is set to mark an "exciting new milestone" as it relocates to a Beccles primary school site around a mile away.

It comes after proposals from the Active Learning Trust - to relocate one of its schools, onto the site of another of its schools nearby - were approved.

Following a successful consultation, Beccles-based Ravensmere Infant School will now move from its site in Benedict’s Road to the nearby Albert Pye Primary School site at Frederick’s Road.

The move was approved by the Department for Education’s Regional Director last week - meaning the relocation will be place in time for the new school year starting on September 5, 2024.

Following the relocation, the schools will continue to be known as The Albert Pye and Ravensmere Schools Federation.

In February Ravensmere Infant School was celebrating following a 'Good' Ofsted inspection.

A month later the Ravensmere Infant School Consultation was launched - with the views of parents, staff and locals sought as positive feedback was received.

Lynsey Holzer, CEO of the Active Learning Trust, said: "This relocation is an exciting milestone for our schools.

"By bringing Ravensmere Infant School to the Albert Pye site, we are creating a more integrated and resource-rich environment for all of our pupils."

Over the coming weeks Ravensmere Infant School children will wear the green uniform currently worn at Albert Pye - with every existing Ravensmere pupil to receive a new sweatshirt free of charge.

All Ravensmere staff will also relocate to the new site.

With the future use of the Ravensmere site still under consideration, the schools’ websites will be combined into a single platform.

In celebration of the move, a special Ravensmere Relocation Party will be held before the end of the term.

Rae Aldous, executive headteacher at The Albert Pye Primary School & Ravensmere Infant School Federation, said: "This is a really positive move for our schools and I am excited for our pupils to realise the many benefits that our pupils will experience as a result of this transition."
