The A47 will be closed overnight from tonight for over a week and a 70-mile diversion will be in place as National Highways undertake work to reduce the risk of flooding.
The stretch of road, between Easton and Honingham, to the west of Norwich, has flooded at least eight times since last October.
To tackle this issue, National Highways have begun the installation of a flood pump which will require the stretch of road to be closed.
A spokesman said the road will be closed overnight from 8pm to 6am from tonight until Friday, June 21.
