Two men have been arrested after restaurants were targeted in a failed cooking oil heist.

The pair, one in their 40s and one in their 20s, were arrested in White Hart Street in Thetford after police spotted their van in the early hours of the morning.

Inside the vehicle, cops found tools and barrels leading to the arrests on suspicion of theft and stealing cooking oil.

After being found at 4.30am on Friday, the pair were taken to Bury St Edmunds Police Station where they remain in custody.

The Ford Transit van parked outside Central Supermarket was seized.
