The Met Office has issued a weather warning today as strong winds are expected to cause disruption in Norfolk.

The yellow weather warning has been issued until 11am and covers most of the county including the whole of the coastline. 

According to the Met Office the "unseasonably strong" north-to-northwesterly winds may lead to some disruption to travel.

Sea fronts and coastal communities are likely to be affected by spray and large waves and short-term loss of power is also a possibility.

The Met Office weather forecast for the East of England today says: "Starting cloudy and cool with a period of rain punctuated by some heavier bursts.

"These conditions then gradually give way to brighter, breezy conditions, with scattered sharp showers."

Weather forecasters are expecting warmer weather to return with the potential for a heatwave. 

A senior meteorologist at the British Weather Services, Jim Dale said the UK is heading "in the right direction" for a heatwave with temperatures "well into the 30s".

The Met Office agreed that a period of high pressure is set to bring warmer weather although it challenged the idea that there are signs of a heatwave.
