People were urged to close windows and doors as fire crews tackled a huge blaze in west Norfolk.

Emergency services were called to the scene of a building fire just before midnight in Tumbleyhill Road in West Acre Gardens - when 12 crews attended.

The fire broke out at a home in the village with the homeowner managing to safely evacuate.

Eight crews have attended the scene, including a control unit and water carrier and emergency services remain at the fire.

Norfolk Fire and Rescue Service has warned that it was an ongoing incident.

At 2am, a spokesman for the service said: "Due to the volume of smoke, we would urge local residents to close all windows and doors.

"Please avoid the area if you can."

An investigation has begun.
