Christine Devereux, of Norwich Road in Yaxham, near Dereham, died at the Norfolk and Norwich Hospital on May 23. 

An inquest opening into her death was held at Norfolk Coroner’s Court this week. 

The court, based at County Hall in Norwich, heard that she had been diagnosed with progressive supranuclear palsy, also known as PSP. 

The NHS describes this condition as a rare neurological condition that affects balance, movement, vision, speech and swallowing. 

Area coroner Yvonne Blake recorded the medical cause of death as “left ventricular failure due to, or as a consequence of, a myocardial infarction" following an “intentional overdose” of medication.  

The brief hearing also heard that Mrs Devereux had been a retired key worker.
