New plans have been revealed to demolish a disused garage to make way for six homes.

West Norfolk Council refused proposals to redevelop the former car workshop on Wellesley Street, in King's Lynn, in 2021.

An appeal against the decision was dismissed the following year, after a government inspector ruled the three-storey development would "detract from the character and appearance" of the street.

Now EN Suiter & Sons have applied to knock down the workshop and build a row of three houses behind small front gardens along Wellesley Street.

A heritage statement says: "The design, with double height bay windows and arched detail above front doors, echoes the appearance of the terrace to the east.

"To the rear, an attached row of a further three dwellings is proposed, with a roof simplified from the second pre-application design, in the form of a pair of gables facing the yard."

A heritage statement says the proposal results in "a significant visual improvement to the street scene", adding: "The vehicle repair building has little significance."

A decision is expected later this year.
