Not to be confused with a new theme park attraction, a huge rig has docked in a seaside town and could be there for up to 90 days.

Prospector 1, a jack-up rig, has appeared in Great Yarmouth, towering over the town and reportedly viewable from as far away as Lowestoft.

They are most commonly used when drilling oil from deep-sea reservoirs.

According to FishSAFE, a website that provides information about oil and gas-related surface and subsea structures in deep sea waters, Prospector 1 will be docked in the town for approximately 90 days and will be used by Dutch company ONE-Dyas for accommodation and completing plugging and abandoning of the wells on the SEAN Romeo platform.
