Three people trapped on Wells beach have close escape

Wells lifeboat crew had a busy day on Sunday as two separate groups were left in danger from the rising waters.

The inshore lifeboat was called to the first group of four at 1.22pm who had a lucky escape after managing to wade through the high waters to safety.

It was a quick turnaround for the crew who were immediately called out to a second stranded group.

The group, which consisted of three dogs, became cut off when walking west of Wells Beach towards Holkham Bay.

They were loaded on to the lifeboat 'Peter Wilcox' and rushed back to the shore.

The group were cold but otherwise unharmed.

The area has become a hot spot for stranded walkers with the lifeboat crew being called out several times over the last couple of weeks. 

RNLI safety advisor Mandy Humphreys said: "You can help protect yourself and your family from getting into this dangerous situation by getting back to the main part of the beach at least four hours before the Wells high tide time."
