A teacher has been picked to try to win the North Norfolk parliamentary seat for Labour at the next general election.
Cathy Cordiner-Achenbach, who is a Great Yarmouth borough councillor, has been selected to try to unseat Conservative MP Duncan Baker.
Ms Cordiner-Achenbach grew up in North Norfolk and moved back when she started her family 15 years ago.
She is a teacher and trainer of teaching assistants and is chair of governors at Ludham Primary School.
Ms Cordiner-Achenback, who represented Yarmouth's Southtown and Cobholm ward from 2018 until 2023 and currently serves Central and Northgate ward, said: "I am honoured to be selected as Labour’s Parliamentary candidate for North Norfolk.
“Listening to local people at meetings, the school gates, social media and on the doorstep it is clear people are tired of the disastrous policies of the Conservative government, which have led to so many facing financial difficulties, an underfunded NHS and a social care system in crisis."
Ms Cordiner-Achenback will go up against Tory Mr Baker, who has held the seat since 2019, Liberal Democrat candidate Steffan Aquarone, Green Liz Dixon and Reform UK's Jason Patchett.
