Despite it being a calm and pleasant evening on Friday, a high tide swept up the two walkers as they were passing through Stiffkey Marsh putting them in immediate danger.

The Peter Wilcox crew reached the two casualties at around 9.40pm and a crew pulled them from the water.

The two people were unharmed but extremely cold and in shock following their ordeal.

The crew took the two people to safety and handed them over to their loving family who were waiting on the shore near a campsite.
