Sporting entertainment will take centre stage as an annual charity football match makes a welcome return in honour of a much-loved manager from Lowestoft.

A memorial match will be held for Ivan Baldry at the home of Kirkley and Pakefield Football Club on Sunday, May 5.

Mr Baldry lost his life to cancer in 2020 and two former teams he used to manage will battle it out for charity.

The memorial football match will raise funds in aid of Cancer Research UK as two teams who played for Mr Baldry will compete for the Carlton Charity Cup.

With the Carlton Charity Cup originally formed in 2003 by Mr Baldry to raise money for the James Paget University Hospital in Gorleston, over the years more than £20,000 has been raised by Mr Baldry and his players.

Last year’s event saw a good crowd with the event raising more than £1,000 for Cancer Research UK.

Kick off for the charity match at the Walmer Road ground is 12.30pm. Entrance is free.
