Work is set to be undertaken at a city community centre after storm damage last year left part of the site "dangerous" to access.
The Christ Church Centre in Magdalen Road was first used as a school in 1860 and is on the site of Christ Church, a grade II listed building.
Plans submitted to Norwich City Council in March to repair a "dangerous" side entrance to the site and rebuild a redundant chimney have now been approved, with the work deemed "regrettable" but necessary on the "unsafe" site.

The churchwarden has applied for the works on behalf of the church, and explained in the design, access and heritage statement that "in 2023, following a storm, the side entrance gate to the Christ Church Centre was blown down, severely damaging a portion of the southern boundary wall".
The chimney stack has also suffered damage and will be rebuilt as part of the application.
Planning permission has been given with a view to work beginning within three years of the application's approval, on April 29.
