Norfolk is set for some surprising weather as Storm Kathleen heads to the UK this weekend.

As the first named storm of the spring, Kathleen could bring winds of up to 70mph to parts of the UK.

But it is good news for the East with the storm set to blow warmer air across Norfolk and Waveney with temperatures to reach an unseasonal 22C - hotter than the Algarve.

Stephen Dixon, a Met Office spokesman said: "As Kathleen tracks northwards to the west of the UK, it’s drawing in warmer air from the south over the UK, which is likely to bring the hottest day of the year so far for some in the East.

"Temperatures in the area are likely to reach more than 20C for some, possibly touching 22C in East Anglia for a time in the afternoon when there should be some good levels of sunshine."

The wet weather is also supposed to stay in the west with a much drier forecast predicted in the East.

After the weekend unsettled weather is to return with spells of rain and wind before shifting to drier conditions later in the week.
