A 51-year-old man who was found lying at the bottom of a stairwell by his wife died from “multiple traumatic injuries”. 

Edvardas Zilinskas, of Sir Lewis Street in King’s Lynn, fell down two stairs inside his house on May 18 and became unresponsive after hitting his head on a concrete wall. 

His wife and a neighbour rang 999 for help and paramedics incubated Mr Zilinskas at the scene before taking him to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital. 

He went into cardiac arrest in the ambulance on route but was successfully given CPR. 

Mr Zilinskas arrived at A&E shortly after 11pm but his condition deteriorated, and he died at 3.20am on May 19. 

In a letter from his GP to Norfolk Coroner’s Court, details of Mr Zilinskas medical history were given. 

The court, based at County Hall in Norwich, heard that he had a history of epilepsy, alcohol related seizures, and was alcohol dependent.

A toxicology report found that he had fallen after drinking "excessive amounts” of alcohol which would have caused “significant impairment”. 

The medical cause of death was given as “multiple trauma due to, or as a result of, a fall with ethanol excess”. 

Area coroner, Samantha Goward, said: “Edvardas had a history of alcohol misuse and had suffered a number of falls and significant injuries previously 

“On arrival at the hospital, he was found to have suffered multiple traumatic injuries. 

“After a discussion with the neurosurgical team, it was agreed surgery would not be beneficial and he was transferred to the critical care team where he died.” 

Ms Goward concluded that his death was alcohol related. 

Mr Zilinskas was born on May 11, 1972, in Lithuania.
