A 32-year-old who had been living with an abusive partner took his own life within months of ending the relationship, a court has heard.
Gary Jones, from the Pottergate area of Norwich, was found hanging inside his flat on April 17.
His body was discovered by an officer from Norfolk police following a call from a family member who was concerned about his welfare.
Despite attempts to save him, paramedics confirmed that he had died at home.
An inquest into his death took place at Norfolk Coroner’s Court based at County Hall in Norwich, on Tuesday.

Area coroner Yvonne Blake said: “Mr Jones appears to have had a long history of depression with suicidal thoughts; having had them for 16 years.
“He had been prescribed medication by his GP and referred to counselling … he was seen by the Wellbeing service in December.
“Mr Jones had been in an abusive relationship.
“He had been in physical harm from his ex-partner. He’d been put in a refuge, which he said did not help his mood, but he was enjoying some aspects of being free again.
“He still had to remain in contact with his ex-partner, he said, because of his possessions and they had pets, cats, together.
“He didn’t appear to give anyone any indication he was going to do this.
“His family were surprised by it, they were very supportive, and he didn’t apparently reach out to anyone else.”
The court also heard how Mr Jones left a note for his family, telling them he “loved them all” but “did not have it in” himself to continue living.
Ms Blake recorded a conclusion of suicide.
