Join the quest to keep shanty songs alive this month at a north Norfolk festival.

Between Friday, September 15, and Sunday, September 7, 16 shanty groups - including The Sheringham Shantymen, Hoy Boy, and The Motley Crew - will perform across five locations at the Brancaster Staithe Sea Shanty Festival.

The Jolly Sailors, The White Horse, Brancaster Staithe Sailing Club, Brancaster Staithe and Burnham Deepdale Village Hall and St Mary’s Church Burnham Deepdale are all taking part in the immersive celebration of Norfolk's shanty talent.

Entry to the festival is free, but the team will be collecting for RNLI Hunstanton and Brancaster Coastwatch.

Guests can also enter a charity lottery to win local prizes including dinner, bed and breakfast at an Anglian Country Inn.

Simon Parkin, the festival organiser, said: "This is our second year, bigger and better and an event not to be missed.

"Pass on this date to your friends and family who like a bit of tradition and a shanty sing-a-long."
