An ambitious plan to paint a mid-Norfolk market town purple is well underway.
Everyone who lives and works in Dereham is being encouraged to join in with a special tribute to one of their own.
Zoe Flint, the brainchild behind the idea, hopes that as many people as possible will get involved in remembering the town’s Janet Money.
The charity worker, who died in 2020 aged 73, helped hundreds of people throughout Norfolk after founding Dereham Cancer Care.
On Monday, March 13 – the day of Mrs Money's birthday – her contribution will be marked.
Paul Sandford, landlord of the Railway Tavern, on Yaxham Road, will be displaying a purple flag, and children and staff from Church Infant and Nursery School, off St Withburga Lane, will dress in the colour.
And Breckland Council will be lighting its building purple, explained councillor Alison Webb.
She said: “We feel honoured to have known Janet Money and will be illuminating Elizabeth House in her memory and to highlight the amazing work Dereham Cancer Care continues to do.”
