Another major milestone has been reached in the ambitious plans to bring a new, much-needed hospice to Norfolk and Waveney.

The Priscilla Bacon Hospice charity is almost at its target of raising £12.5m to build a state-of-the-art facility next to the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital.

The campaign, which was launched in 2019, and is backed by the Eastern Daily Press, has seen huge support from individuals, organisations, and businesses across the region.

Now, they are ready to launch an all-new '500 Club' for those groups wanting to pledge their support.

Amy Bramble, community fundraising and marketing manager, said: "The generosity and determination of local Norfolk businesses to support our campaign has been astounding.

“We are thrilled to launch the 500 Club and bring together a community of businesses and organisations who are working together to help us change the future of end-of-life care for our region.

“The support of the business community is huge boost, but we urge everyone to join together with this final push as we raise the last £750,000 needed to complete the construction of the new Priscilla Bacon Lodge.”

A total of 70 businesses have joined the 500 Club, including six 'platinum' members; DMD Group, Jarrold, NM Finance, Morgan Sindall, Lovell, and Norwich Accountancy Services. Each platinum member has pledged to raise £10,000.

Set on an eight-acre site, surrounded by gardens and grounds, the new hospice aims to make a remarkable difference to the delivery of end-of-life care in the area.

The new facility has a greater capacity for inpatient beds, along with a well-being centre with a gym and therapy rooms.

There is also a bigger day unit with significantly more therapy and counselling rooms, and a hub to coordinate virtual-ward services for people being cared for in their own homes.
