All Norfolk’s hospitals have welcomed the greatest gift of all today.
At least ten babies are known to have been born at the county’s maternity departments so far this Christmas Day.
In Norwich, at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital (NNUH), the first arrival came into the world at 1.42am.
Four more babies followed before midday.
At the James Paget Hospital in Gorleston, midwives saw the arrival of four new babies – including one set of twins.
A senior midwife coordinator at the hospital said it had been “quite a busy day” and morale within the team was high.
Staff at the Queen Elizabeth in King’s Lynn also confirmed that it had been busy at the West Norfolk hospital.
There was a special Christmas delivery for babies at the NNUH's Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
A total of 45 Jellycat toys, one for every baby who will spend Christmas Day on the unit, were provided by Vivup.
