Alfreton Town 3 King's Lynn Town 0
King's Lynn Town were outmuscled in their first away game of the National League North season.
The Linnets were barely recognisable from the team which showed so much promise in last week's opening win over Warrington.
"Really bad day - the better team won," said Lynn boss Adam Lakeland. "No complaints about the result. Incredibly disappointed with the performance of the season. We knew exactly what the game would look like, the threats that they have and we just didn't stand up to them."
The Linnets were behind after 13 minutes, unable to cope with the physical presence of David Moyo, who slid the ball under keeper Paul Jones.
They were fortunate not go fall further behind on 25 minutes when Liam Waldock slid the ball past Jones's right post with the goal gaping.
A minute later Josh Hmami came close to a freakish equaliser when he charged down keeper George Willis's kick, but saw the ball spin just wide of the post.
The hosts largely bypassed midfield with long balls into the Lynn area, while the visitors were rarely an attacking force in the first half, but started the second half better.
Ross Crane's direct run down the middle was ended by Adam Lund, but Hmami's free-kick was straight at the keeper.
But Lynn's hopes suffered a major blow 10 minutes after the break, Whitehouse doing well down the left before he found Waldock, whose shot nestled into the top right corner from 12 yards.
An unmarked Bill Fewster added a third after a long threw into the box and it was game over for the visitors.
In time added on, Lynn debutant Tim Wilson turned and fired goalwards, forcing Willis into only his second save of the game.
