King's Lynn Town have added to their squad just four days before the start of the new National League North campaign.
Stockport County midfielder Cody Johnson has joined Lynn on a loan deal until January 1.
The 19-year-old has spent time on loan at Stockport Town, Banbury United, Scarborough Athletic and, most recently, Rochdale.
Linnets boss Adam Lakeland said: “I’m really pleased that we’ve managed to get Cody on board.
"We’ve been trying to get him here for several weeks now, but it’s taken a little longer to get completed than we thought.
"I think it’s important that we brought another midfield player in. He naturally plays underneath the ball, he’s very good in possession, always wants the ball, and has the defensive brain in the middle of the park.
"He holds his position very, very well, and he’ll give us extra competition in places where we felt we needed that type of player within the group. I’m looking forward to working with him.”
Johnson added: “I’m buzzing to get going at such a big club in the league and really hope to kick on, get minutes in and enjoy myself.”
Johnson will be available for Saturday's National League North season opener at home to Warrington Town, with Lakeland happy with the summer's preparation.
“The bulk of the work for us is done now," he said after the weekend win over a Luton XI. "Next week will be a lot lighter and a lot more preparation for Warrington, really, a lot of detail. We'll polish up on our set-plays, organisation for and against. keep working on our shape, patterns of play, that type of thing, really.
Lakeland gave the players Monday off for some team bonding in the form of a paintball session.
“They deserve it because they've worked so hard and so well for the last five weeks - and they should do because it's what they are paid to do - but they've still got to have that application day in, day out and these lads have and I think certainly in the last two games where we've looked strong and fit and a decent side, they are getting that little bit of reward for that hard work, but we'll only really know how we've done when we kick off next.”
